7th–8th grade · Class of ~2031–2032

Build the foundation

D1 coaches can spot prospects this early, but no division initiates contact yet. This stage is development + setup — not outreach campaigns.

• Prioritize mechanics and consistency over peak numbers.
• Start a baseline measurables card (pitch velo, tee exit velo, pop time, home-to-first).
• Capture at-bats/defense each tournament; build a first simple skills clip.
• Claim a free profile (Hudl / NCSA / SportsRecruits) — treat it as a living resume.
• Set up a clean, sport-only social account; the PARENT owns the email/login.
• Protect grades from day one — the NCAA core-GPA clock starts in 9th grade.
• Pick a club that travels to coach-attended showcases.

Targets (guidance): Elite 14U guidance: pitcher ~56–60 mph, tee exit velo ~58–65, pop time under ~2.1.

9th grade (Freshman) · Class of ~2030

Get real assets in place

D1 still locked until junior year — but D2 / D3 / NAIA / JUCO coaches may already reply, and she can email any coach now.

• Lock in NCAA-approved core courses from semester one (they count toward the 16-core / 10-7 rule).
• Begin logging VERIFIED measurables at reputable showcases (not self-reported).
• Produce a first real skills + game highlight video; finalize the profile.
• Send short, informational emails to realistic-fit programs across divisions.
• Your club coach can build relationships on her behalf (legal anytime).

10th grade (Sophomore) · Class of ~2029

Ramp outreach

June 15 after sophomore year = D2 in-person contact opens (D2 calls/texts were already allowed). NAIA/JUCO fully open. D1 coaches are evaluating at showcases but still can't communicate.

• Ramp PERSONALIZED (never mass-blast) emails — film link, profile, schedule, measurables — to a D1/D2/D3/NAIA mix that fits academically + athletically.
• Attend summer showcases where target-division coaches actually recruit.
• Take unofficial (self-funded) visits to nearby campuses anytime.
• Register with the NCAA Eligibility Center (Certification account, $110, needed for D1/D2).

Targets (guidance): 16U D1-look guidance: pitcher ~60–63+, tee exit velo ~68–72+, pop ~1.85–1.95, home-to-first ~3.0 or faster.

11th grade (Junior) · Class of ~2028

The pivotal year

SEPTEMBER 1 of junior year is the single biggest date — D1 coaches may now call, text, email, DM, make verbal offers, and host official + unofficial visits. D3 official visits open Jan 1 of junior year.

• Be ready the morning of Sept 1: polished current film, updated profile, junior schedule, and a target list of 30–50 programs to send.
• Confirm the 10/7 rule (10 of 16 core courses incl. 7 in English/math/science, done & locked before senior year) and a 2.3+ core GPA (D1; D2 = 2.2).
• Counselor sends transcript after the 6th semester.
• Use the summer contact period and fall evaluation weekends to be seen.
• Ask coaches where you stand and how many at your position they're taking (the 25-roster cap makes fit critical).

12th grade (Senior) · Class of ~2027

Decide, commit, sign

D1 finalizing; D2 / D3 / NAIA / JUCO timelines run later, so keep contacting those coaches directly — plenty of spots fill senior year and beyond.

• Take official visits (D1 capped ~5 total across schools; D2/D3/NAIA unlimited); narrow the list.
• Commit and sign the school's written athletics-aid agreement (the NLI was eliminated in 2024 — this is now the binding document). JUCO uses an NJCAA Letter of Intent (binds one year; never sign two).
• Counselor sends the final official transcript to the Eligibility Center after graduation; confirm final eligibility certification.
• Keep grades up — final certification still matters.
